Project description:

The main problems of the city and the commune of Pleszew identified before the project implementation were  the poor condition of the natural environment and the lack of eco-solutions in the sectors related to the state of air quality (i.a. the problem of smog, the lack of environmentally friendly heating systems in the city, high traffic intensity), earth (i.a. lack of greenery, lack of environmentally friendly alternatives, e.g. photovoltaics) and water (i.a. high failure rate of the water supply network, lack of a network monitoring system, losses due to lack of rainwater management, insufficient area of biologically active areas).

The aim of the project was to improve the quality of life of residents by increasing the efficiency of management and the quality of public services offered, i.e. developing 3 concepts of eco-solutions for intelligent city management and implementing pilot solutions.

The project includes:

  1. Analysis of the ISO standard, preparation of the SMART strategy and standards of intelligent city management;
  2. Preparation of an expert opinion on the number of traditional boilers in the city and an expert opinion on the costs and benefits of changing the heating of houses / apartments, expert opinion on the placement of air sensors in the commune;
  3. Quantitative research related to the implementation of city bikes. Moreover, a concept of collective transport and a transfer center was drawn up. It was prepared technical documentation related to the construction of a car park at the Pleszew railway station;
  4. Development of project documentation related to greenery and renewable energy, diagnosis and inventory of street lighting and preparation of documentation on intelligent lighting;
  5. Development of an expert opinion on the placement of sensors on the water supply network; development of a concept and technical documentation related to rainwater;
  6. Developing of the concept of creating an eco-business incubator;
  7. Mapping the needs of people with disabilities, the youngest residents and seniors in the field of SMART solutions.

The pilot part of the project provided:

  1. Purchase and installation of internal moss walls as innovative solutions to clean the air;
  2. Purchase and installation of integrated information boards constituting a system of dynamic information, fulfilling information and educational functions;
  3. Purchase and installation of air sensors;
  4. Purchase and installation of equipment for monitoring the water supply network;
  5. Creation of green stops;
  6. Creation of smart pedestrian crossings;
  7. Piloting intelligent lighting.
