Project description:

As part of the project, the city implemented:

  1. street lighting system by replacing lamps in selected locations with energy-saving LED technologies along with testing the management system of individual light sources thanks to the Smart IoT platform. It embraces to set lighting patterns and a potential reduction of lighting intensity at selected times; thanks to the installation of new luminaires. It embraces to install modules that enable measurements of air quality, noise, temperature, humidity, etc. Finally, new solutions ensure savings in the city budget resulting from lower energy consumption fees and increasing the comfort and safety of residents;
  2. municipal waste management system in the form of ultrasonic sensors for filling in garbage containers. In result, the devices mounted to the existing containers. As a result of their operation, it is possible to measure the degree of its filling and their location. This information is transferred to a special data aggregation platform, thanks to which the optimal routes for garbage trucks and the location of containers in the city are determined, based on the history of their filling, which contributes to eliminating the so-called "Empty runs". The innovative solution is also an additional incentive for the inhabitants of Sierpc to more segregate waste;
  3. air quality modeling system (air quality map presenting the current and forecast air quality state) in Sierpc.

For the proper functioning of the above solutions, a platform and a portal was created that allows the use of new solutions, collect data and present them to residents. The platform and the portal serve to better manage the city in the area of air quality monitoring, waste management and energy consumption.

In addition, it conducted ecological education in schools and kindergartens, as well as educational activities addressed to adults, and to develop a "Sierpc Development Strategy towards Smart City".
